Know about EHSS Hong Kong and the processes involved

No tailpipe emissions are produced by electric cars (EVs). The deployment of electric vehicles to replace conventional automobiles can improve ambient air quality or reduce carbon emissions. The increased usage of electric vehicles also aids the growth of ecological industries.

The Finance Executive and EHSS Hong Kong chaired an Advisory Board on the Advancement of Electric Vehicles to representatives from different sectors to advise a plan to attract the use of such electric cars in Hong Kong, considering renewable energy and ecological quality and the development of new business opportunities.

The government took measures to encourage the use of EVs-

The administration has adopted the following steps to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles:

Making EVs eligible for discounts. Electric cars, trucks, motorbikes, and engine tricycles will all be exempt from the FRT. The licensing structure for electrified personal vehicles seems to be as follows:

Except for qualified private car operators, Up to $96,500 in FRT would be waived for electrified private cars.
Under the “Yet another Replacement” Scheme, personal car customers who trash and counter their own qualifying old private automobile and then open a new electrical private car can receive a more significant FRT subsidy of up to $286,600.

Businesses that purchase electric vehicles are eligible for a 100 percent profit tax deduction again for capital spending on EVs for yearly purchases. New Energy Transportation Fund has already been in place to promote the transportation sector and charity and non-profit groups to experiment with and extensively deploy green, creative, and limited transportation solutions.
The government set aside $180 million for licensed bus firms to buy 36 main electricity buses for trial runs, comprising 28 rechargeable battery buses and eight capacitive buses. The Government will develop a $1.6 billion pilot funding program to support the construction of electric vehicles, starting to charge equipment in car parks in privately managed residential buildings.

Is the government considering imposing fees on communal Charging stations?

EV charging facilities at government parking lots are free. This is designed to provide the monetary incentives to stimulate the early adoption of EVs in the early stages of development. However, as the number of electric vehicles (EVs) increases, it is necessary to market EV charging services to promote city planners and prevent charger abuse. In this regard, we have begun working on an EV charger grant, such as equipment/software upgrades, to enforce Recharging fees in governmental parking areas starting in approximately 2025.
